Details:
Electro Vision has its roots on Dolby Vision, a Portuguese band from Lisbon - Portugal, composed by a computer engineer, who is also an actor â Filipe Garcia (synthesizer, vocals and guitar) and a music teacher - Frederico Pereira (synthesizer). This long time neighbours and friends for several years realised that their tastes concerning music were almost identical. Both were influenced by artists such as, Ultravox, Thomas Dolby, Human League, Softcell, among others, and sci-fi movies of the eighties, such as Blade Runner and Dune.
It all started when Frederico's father, a classical piano player, bought a synthesizer in the late eighties. In the beginning there were only ideas and those ideas were recorded by the band live using a small tape recorder, such as the one used to load spectrum games. In 1993 they decided to take their band more seriously. Filipe bought a new synthesizer and the band acquired an analog 4 multytracker. They recorded some demos on tape and then digitally on DAT, on a 16 track professinal recording studio. They showed them to a few people and had good reviews on newspapers by musical experts, such as Nuno Galopim. Unfortunatelly, due to lack of independent Portuguese labels, they had never the chance to see their electronic-pop songs released.
As time went by they changed their sound, their musical influences and therefore their band name. Along with Lurdes Fachadas (the back vocals) they came up with a new project called Light Speed Approach. LSA has won several different prizes since their 1 st appearance in public, such as âBest Techno Awardâ of the national newspaper Diário de Notícias in 1997, and two years consecutively the âRoland European Groovegear Contestâ, having therefore the opportunity to play live in Frankfurt, Germany in the International Fair, âMusik Messeâ. They released two albums (Mumbo Jumbo and Gender), and they had their Spice Runner theme reviewed on Future Music magazine. LSA had the opportunity to participate in Portuguese films original band score, commercial spots and remixes for big national bands.
In 2006 Filipe Garcia, after a bad night's sleep, assembled DV's old midi files, saved on Low density disc and transformed them completely, giving them new sound dimension, freshness, but at the same time preserving the simplicity and melody of the songs. After a year of hard work he gave birth to Dolby Vision debut album, Rebirth. Dolby Vision were again reunited and filled with new reviving energy, flourishing from the power of the first songs ever composed by them. Meantime, due to legal matters, concerning the use of the word Dolby (© Dolby Laboratories), they changed their name to Electro Vision.
This duo aims at innovation and the search for new sound dimensions. Not worried about labelling their sound, Electro Vision claim that what they do is simply electronic music. Their main concern? To make good songs...
