I know what it is like to be broken and to have the healing grace of God come into my heart and turn my life around.
When I was 31 years old, I left an abusive husband. I escaped with four children, ages 2-10, in the middle of the night. I stuffed our few belongings in garbage bags and drove from New Mexico to California in an old beat-up station wagon. I had $120.00 to my name.
By the Grace of God, the children and I survived the next few years of extreme poverty. I worked 2-3 jobs at a time to buy the groceries and pay the bills. My children had to do without many things, including time with me.
God protected us in every circumstance. He helped me get scholarships to go to school and become a teacher, and then a professor. He helped my children and kept them safe when I had to be gone to work and to school.
Most of all, God taught me that He loves us unconditionally. He is the only one we can count one in every circumstance of our lives. I am so grateful to Him for His promise: "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." God has always kept this promise. He has shown me His great and compassionate love throughout my life.
I pray that the songs in my album, "Broken," will minister to you in a way that your hearts will be touched by God's love for YOU.
