We met Marcellus Kornegay on the turnpike in the state of New Jersey, holding up a sign with the words "New York City" on it. Seeing him in his cowboy hat and boots with a guitar strapped on his back, we stopped initially as a joke. When he walked up to the van we could see there was no fear in his eyes as he accepted our offer for a ride. We told him that we weren't going to New York City, but that we would take him to the nearest bus station.

On the ride to the bus station we asked him could he play the guitar that he was carrying. When Marcellus started playing and singing, the whole van became quiet. We knew right then and there that we had discovered one of the greatest new artists of our time. We asked Marcellus had he ever recorded his songs before and he said no; so we recorded Marcellus and this single "Ugly Dogs and Ugly Men" is the first to be released song from his forth coming album.
