Jimmie's a songwriter, arranger, lyricist, musician and singer who does it his way and does it extremely well. Defining his style is like trying to catch mercury- he does it all. Whether you dig rhythm and blues, pop, swing, rock, or jazz, you'll like all that Lykes has to offer.

Born and raised in the South Bay section of Los Angeles, Jimmie was only four years old when he first toddled up to a piano. By age ten, his dad standing proudly by his side, Jimmie started performing standards like "Satin Doll" and "Misty" at cocktail parties. One taste of the spotlight and a star was born! This youthful exuberance (his middle initial should be "F" for FUN!) is the driving force behind Jimmie's highly enjoyable stage show today.

The charismatic Mr. Lykes took a job selling pianos at a shopping mall to put himself through college and soon found himself composing tunes on the new Steinway grands after closing time. With a major in advertising and promotion, he figured he had the tools to promote something he believed in- himself and his music.

To the delight of his audience, Jimmie writes music both unapologetic and hilarious. His lyrics are a collage of subjects close to his heart, with relationships being the favorite topic. Metaphors abound as Jimmie's lyrics link male-female relationships with fishing and golf among other subjects. Audiences love his snappy banter and stories, and he is fast on his feet when interacting with them. The result: original, fun, high-energy entertainment!

Since the Spring 1999 release of his "Female Fishin'" CD, Jimmie Lykes and the Club Swingers have packed clubs to capacity, leaving lines stretching around the block. The songs on "Female Fishin'" fall into the groove set by recent pop swingers like The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. "I've been writing this style of music for years," says Jimmie. "I'm just thankful that the rest of the population has finally come around to appreciate what I do!" He's fronted several other bands in his career, but his latest venture as Jimmie Lykes and the Club Swingers is the one that will take him to the top.

Jimmie's 9 piece band has been cited by the press as "tight, potent, and aggressive" and is guaranteed to get you up on your feet and dancing. With a horn section blazing behind Club Swinger bandstands and a rhythm section smoking alongside them, the result is music reminiscent of the 40s and 50s but with a modern sensibility. You're guaranteed to smile as soon as the music starts.

Jimmie's music is just plain fun- his persona onstage is that of a man who tells his truth with flair, and his carefree, humorous approach to life make this music a party in itself.
