"Music is not just something that you take in with your ears, it is Life and everything that it contains compacted into 3 1/2 minutes of notes and lyrics. It is story telling not with just words, but pitches and tones and an occasional tear." These are just some of the feelings of the band members that form one of the most unique sounds to come around the music scene in decades.

Living in New york seasoned the vocal styling and lyrical rhythms of Matt Heart (lead singer of Purpose) He with co- writer John Davis (lead guitarist and vocalist) together they set out to create one of the most ambitious bands to hit the music scene in recent years. After being a solo artist and opening for acts like Brian Mcknight and Mary J Blige. Matt wanted to broaden his horizons, "I always wanted to be part of a band , it's like family to me." said Matt when interviewed.

After running into John at a local music store, the two hit it off immediately. John, after fronting a country and rock band for the last 5 years, knew that collaborating with Matt was just what the music industry was looking for. "Matt has soul in his voice and a passionate feel to his lyrics, that with my rock and country background created a very unique sound that is completely our own." says John when interviewed.

Now after a year of writing and producing, the two have brought together and created an album that brings both of their worlds together to form the unique, passionate and melodic sound that is PURPOSE....

Matt Heart and John Davis (collectively Purpose) recently traveled to Los Angeles, where they were honored with the Best Alternative Band Award at the Los Angeles Black Music Awards BMA'S. Feb,11th(2006)

An interesting mix of soul and country, this duo brings years of varied musical experience together and catapults it back out with passionate, motivated honesty. The music takes a hard rock/pop county edge and cuts it with soothing R&B vocals. Not only do the songs sound good, but the topics are as poignant and thought provoking as they come- from a man confessing his love to a deaf girl to a traveler coming home to his lady after a long time on the road. The coolest part about this band, though, is the giving back. Ten percent of their CD sales to to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and another 10 goes to Americas Most Wanted.

PURPOSE Has Been Honored By the Mayor of Toledo, Ohio with a Prestigious Proclamation Award!! This is the first time in the city's history that a Band has received this honor.


Surprisingly entertaining melodies and well written lyrics delivered by soft passionate vocals construct this cd of promise. Purpose, a musical duo out of Toledo, Ohio comprised of co-writers Matt Heart and John Davis, open up their heart and extend their musical prowess in this sweet sounding endeavor. Many tracks demonstrate the duo's smooth guitar rhythms and heartfelt lyrics.
