Details:
"She's up for anything, as long as it has more than four legs."
Written and conceived by award-winning composer Jim Bauer (The Weimarband / The Blue Flower) and fronted by high-intensity actor/singer Meghan McGeary, New York-based DAGMAR is six extraordinary musicians from around the globe and a variety of musical backgrounds, from the dusty plains of Texas to the hallowed halls of The Juilliard School, having more fun than bugs in candlelight, exploring the floating frontiers of semi-pop music and the tortured relationship between music and narrative.
A surreal story cycles through the mountain-to-valley music arrangements about a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and a joyful insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him. Dagmar is the Muse of even the Muses, and loves transmogrifying into extravagant invertebrates, insects mostly. Lucky for our hero in hiding, she's up for just about anything, as long as it has more than four legs.
Dagmar's world premiere performance was on June 25th, 2005 at JOE'S PUB in New York City.
DAGMAR IS:
music & lyrics / guitar & vocals: Jim Bauer
flute & vocals: Meghan McGeary
drums & percussion: David Rozenblatt
percussion & drums: Pablo Rieppi
violin: Jennifer Choi
bass: Dave Phillips
The EP album is a prelude to the full "Door No. 1" album, which represents the first part of a three-part song cycle, and will be released later in the summer. On this EP recording, guitar, all midi instruments and midi percussion were performed by Jim Bauer, with all lead and background vocals performed by Jim Bauer and Meghan McGeary.
