From a small town in NC, singer/songwriter, Monika Jaymes is a powerhouse of talent! Former "Tumbleweed" drummer Freddie Cummings discovered Monika at an early age. Starting in the studio at the tender age of 13, she recorded songs Freddie had written, along with her own songs. After playing in various bands, she wanted to explore her own talents. Continuing to write and perform she has received radio time, was chosen to perform twice at the World Special Olympics, and has had her music included in several events including the concert for battered women "Diva's Night Out" which is aired on PBS. Monika has been recognized as an artistic songwriter and has written/performed numerous songs for movie soundtracks. Monika is a gifted musician, vocalist and poetic lyricist. Vocally, Monika has an excellent range and an angelic tone to her voice. Monika has written and recorded various types of music, from rock and dance to rhythm and blues. Monika's diversity is part of her charm. Being from the south, her background in music ranges from bluegrass to roots rock. What you end up with is an indescribable but recognizable sound that keeps you wanting more.

Although an acoustic performer, the MJB was officially formed in late 2003. Monika needed a creative band behind her that could help her perform her songs at a more fully formed level, without losing the root sound of a singer/songwriter, and that could perform every song as different as they were written. Cary Powell, longtime friend and collaborator brings expressive piano and synth to the MJB. Singing high tenor, he also brings the background of tight bluegrass harmonies along with the ability of writing beautiful ballads. Dan Paterno on bass guitar, joined the MJB in late 2006. He performs with a moving but solid bass style that brings the MJB to a more refined level. Damien Benz on lead guitar brings distinctive gtr riffs and radiates remarkable energy on stage as effortless as his unique playing style. Alan Foster on drums brings a solid backbone to the group, creating a very clean rhythm section.
