Details:
Award-winning entertainer Judy Pancoast is an acclaimed childrenâs musical artist, hailed by parents as âfilling the void between Barney and Britney.â Judy has made her mark composing age-appropriate songs for children and stands apart in a music industry that tends to serve up explicit songs to ever younger audiences.
Judy earned her BA in Music from the University of Maine, and was a solo performing artist, the leader of two popular bands, and a successful radio announcer for many years. Her natural ease with children and belief that they receive an invaluable education through music led her to pursue and attain a Masterâs Degree in Education. It was then that the confluence of her musical ability, her ability to inspire children and her sense of humor resulted in her acclaimed series of original recordings and renowned childrenâs concerts.
With loyal fans among those aged 3 to 11, Judy has produced four popular collections of childrenâs music. Her innovative song writing won her the coveted Childrenâs Music Web âBest Song for Young Childrenâ award three times⦠for her songs Swimming in Jello , The Potty Dance and One Big Eyeball. Her 1998 recording, Candy, won a Parentâs Choice Award. She released The Tune Room in September 2003, and received a best song of 2003 nod for I Love the Rain from KIOS â FM. The House on Christmas Street CD has been hailed by reviewers as âcapturing a spirit of joy and innocence without the calculated syrup of Hollywood or Madison Avenueâ All four of Judyâs CDs have been endorsed by the Coalition for Quality Childrenâs Media. Her music is heard regularly on XM Satellite Radio where she has been the host of two special programs.
Judy has taken her high-octane performances on the road, giving concerts at festivals, performing arts centers and wherever children and families gather in 48 U.S. states to date. She has performed in concert twice by request for President Bill Clinton. Her repeat performances at the New York A-list fundraiser for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation garnered a celebrity following as stars Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, James Gandolfini and others joined hundreds of children who were entertained by her popular and interactive musical concerts at the Kids for Kids Carnival. Judy is also a featured performer annually at Robert DeNiroâs Tribeca Film Festival Family Street Fair. She has traveled twice to Nairobi, Kenya, for week-long workshops, where she and the children of the Nyumbani Orphanage have written several songs together. Two of the songs are available on a fundraising CD for the orphanage.
Pancoast is a featured artist on the select roster of Artists in Education of the New Hampshire State Council for the Arts and the roster of the New Hampshire State Libraryâs âKids, Books and the Artsâ summer reading program. She can also be heard regularly as an announcer on Bostonâs Oldies 103.3.
Pancoast lives in New Hampshire with her husband, Philip and daughters Emma (17) and Louisa (13). She is active in supporting many organizations dedicated to helping children including the Optimist Club International and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
