âNo ProTools here,â says Patrick William Horn, songwriter-producer for the Los Angeles indie acoustic rock-n-roll ensemble. âThe musicians played live in the studio together, the vocalists lined up around a single microphone.â

âMany of the lyrics are adapted from classic poetry,â says Horn, who studied literature with a Harvard scholar. âNothing is more inspiring than reading Wordsworth and Whitman on a retreat in the California wilderness.â

The core of the ensemble formed at one of L.A.âs best-kept secrets, Kulakâs Woodshed. âThe Woodshed is a unique treasure thatâs almost always in danger of vanishing,â says Horn. âItâs an intimate venue with a live audio-video Webcast for artists to share their musicâkept alive by volunteers and a donation bucket.â

With over 16,000 friends and more than 24,000 listens, the ensemble ranks #22 among local acoustic artists on Myspace. The group also shared their organic sound at sold-out shows on the Sunset Strip, including headlining the legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go. Says Horn, âSuddenly, we had an adoring crowd of dancing fans, who screamed, waved lighters and threw underwear at us. Thatâs a rock-n-roll dream come true.â
