After spending the summer writing and recording in the mountains of Idaho, Joe Paisley delivers his first album- This Town. This set of highly anticipated, new songs captures Joe's popular, dark style and catchy choruses while reminding us what is important in our own lives; home. Joe's smart lyrics take us on a journey through politics, family and the pain we endure with any relationship. Joe played almost all the instruments on this album (his dad, also a musician, helped lay some bass lines). He also did all the recording, editing, and mastering himself from his bedroom in Idaho.
Joe's unique and dark style is easy to trace to his childhood. Growing up, Joe's head was primarily flooded with the hardcore sounds of Thrice, Killswitch Engage and 36 Crazyfists. After getting a drumset for his 12 birthday, it didnt take long before Joe joined a band and delivered to crowded garages and venues all over southern Idaho. Joe added to his musical talents by teaching himself how to play the guitar, bass and piano shortly after his 13th birthday.
As the years went on, Joe continued playing drums for the high school concert and pep band, while filling in for other bands around his home town. However, he kept most of his attention on his membership of the band A Winter After. Joe played rhythm guitar and backup vocals for A Winter After, and in just one year, the band was getting local radio play and attention from record labels. At A Winter After's peak, they were opening for bands like HIMSA and Haste the Day. But when the reality of college came into the picture, the band went their separate ways.
Joe Paisley decided to make himself a one-man-show while attending the University of Idaho. A handful of students heard a sub par recording of his old acoustic and harder solo songs and from there it started.
