Details:
The life of Blues/Folk singer Pinecone Fletcher could be called a lesson in the art of Hoboin. Pinecone has known no other life but poor, borrowing and bartering his way through life. His parents taught him this life style well, his mother giving him a pinecone to sleep with at night as a young child in place of teddy bear and his father hocking an old pocket watch for Pinecones first worn out guitar. Never working a real job, Pinecone moves from town to town, borrowing floors and sharing rides. Never ashamed to stick out his thumb to get where hes going or play a song to eat his next meal. Having seen the country from the back of a train, Pinecone began writing songs from his unique perspective. One night while in a small farming community in New York, Pinecone decided to take refuge in an old onion barn. Little did the vagabond know that he was sleeping in Brad Morrisons barn, producer of such acts as Phish (Elektra Entertainment) and The Figgs (Capitol Records). Morrison, fully understanding the irrational and eccentric behavior of musicians, introduced himself and invited Pinecone in for breakfast. After a few choruses of Pinecones Mmm Mmm Good as thanks for the free meal, Morrison offered to record some of his songs on his old reel to reel. Pinecone, having seen the world and making many friends, invited some interesting characters to the recording mix. A large tuba player, a sax, a strange man on organ, and some singers too, all seemed to appear out of no where, a strange traveling circus of sorts. As the final tracks were laid, Pinecone decided that Hoboin would be the albums title, a name befitting the mans life.
