Ronnie Furr Biography

When it comes to music and entertaining, Ronnie is well known for his excitement onstage. He started singing at 13 with the Boys Glee Club where he quickly became president. His teacher was impressed with his ability to sing all four parts: bass, baritone, alto and soprano. Ronnie learned his love of singing from his parents and performing in Christmas programs at school. All of this helped develop and shape his interest in the music business.

He joined the Army at the age of 17. There he met a fellow G.I. who helped him learn the acoustic guitar. He started with three simple songs. After his discharge, he played rhythm guitar and was the lead singer for a group called "Silver Eagle Band." The band played country music in many Tulsa area clubs, including Duke's Country, Cowboys, and Top Hat in Cleveland. While the band was together, they won second place and $1000 in a Marlboro contest and opened for George Strait, Eddie Raven, Moe Bandy, Atlanta, Hank Thompson, Razzy Bailey and others. The band played together for some time while trying to break into the recording business.

Later he became a part of "Moonshine Express," which played in Tulsa and Kansas City. After a short time, he moved to a new band called "Oklahoma Bad Lands" then to "Exit 244 Band." This band had the privilege of opening for talent such as Mel McDaniel. After much consideration and no progress to stardom, Ronnie was told "If you want to make it in this business, you have to do original material." With this in mind, he started working as a carpenter all over Chicago, Nevada and California, taking time to write enough originals to produce two CDs.

From the beginning, he was able to create his own style of country music starting with a tune and a hook line. Ronnie not only wrote the lyrics and music with a little help from his friends, he also developed the graphics and packaging for two CDs. The first was completed in 1990 and includes tunes such as "If you snooze, you lose," "No deposit, no return," "D.U.I," and others. In 2001, he finished his second CD with tunes including "Are we having fun yet?" "Love times two" and "It takes two to two step".

Currently, Ronnie is playing as a solo act in the Tulsa area and performing original material. He plays in clubs including Westbound, Jack of Clubs, Action Lounge, Bobbisox, American Legion and restaurants such as Papa's Restaurant and Western Country Diner. He has performed for company parties, private organizations and festivals.

Recently while in Nashville on his honeymoon at the encouragement of his manager and wife Terri. Ronnie entered the Nashville Palace Talent Contest where he won the first and final rounds of competition. For the Grand Prize Ronnie was showcased for the evening with the Steve Hill Nashville Band.

During the month of May 2004, Ronnie performed at the best kept secret in Nowata, OK. The Nowata Country Jubilee invited Ronnie to be a guest entertainer where he enjoyed singing for a packed house. The folks were so nice to invite Ronnie back a number of times throughout the following year.

A remarkable opportunity for Ronnie was being nominated by the Tulsa World for the Spotnik Awards as the BEST COUNTRY ACT of the Year 2004. He is very honored to be recognized with such great talent as we have here in Tulsa.
