This bio is being written on the occasion of Jordon's debut solo album called Open Fields and Alleyways. A project that has taken him over a decade to complete, and one in which he feels is a culmination of his musical and compositional talents.
When not working on Open Fields and Alleyways, Jordon recently played Rhodes piano on the debut album of Men Without Pants, a collaboration between Dan The Automator (of The Gorillaz) and Russell Simins (of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion).
His production work helps to foster the talent of many local up-and-coming artists, including Sean Garvey with his debut album, Small Town Graffiti, and Manhattan's Night Rats first EP. Additionally, Jordon has produced songs for more established artists such as Pete Yorn and Russell Simins.
As a songwriter, Jordon has experienced recent success when five of his compositions were placed in the top ten for the Northeast region on Broadjam.com. Also, Jordon was selected to participate in three ASCAP songwriting workshops.
Early in his career, Jordon showed his proficiency
in composing when, in 1998, he won Best Film Score in the NYU Film Festival for his work on Union, produced, written and directed by John Yudis. Additionally, in his early 20¹s, Jordon's jingles for Carnation Instant Breakfast, Volvo and Folgers Coffee were on national television and radio campaigns. Currently Jordon sold a piece of music to Bed Bath and Beyond and is being considered to do the score for the up coming Dakota Fanning film.
Working in Los Angeles, in the late nineties, Jordon was the music supervisor for an independent film called Falling Sky, starring Karen Allen and Brittany Murphy.
Humorously, Jordon appeared on the t.v. show Scrubs in March 2007.
Fronting his band, Mascot's Distance as well as performing solo, Jordon is performing his songs in NYC clubs such as The Living Room, Crash Mansion, Arlene's Grocery, The Cutting Room, and The Bitter End. He is currently recording his second album with the group. His work with Mascot¹s Distance takes up where he left off with various bands in the mid 90s.
While his first instrument was drums, Jordon's primary instrument has become the piano, additionally playing organ, saxophone and guitar. His musical influences range from Steely Dan, Bob Dylan, Joanna Newsom, Bud Powell, The
Band and Billy Joel to Harry Neilson and The Beatles.
Jordon earned a BA in music from Syracuse University and a Masters Degree in music education from Columbia University.
