Acoustic rock musician Reed Thomas Lawrence offers that rare jewel to his fans. He writes and plays music that is original and artistic but doesnât lose a drop of pop friendliness in the process of seeking to infuse thoughtfulness and intelligence into the world of music. When working at peak creative efficiency, the music seems to be some alive and flowing in from beyond, according to Lawrence. âWhen I pick up the guitar (or any instrument), itâs like tuning into a channel where, if I can get the dial tuned in just right, everything flows through clean and clear and it seems itâs coming from somewhere else.â This focused summoning of creative energy is obvious in Lawrenceâs songs, which spring forth with a natural, organic feeling that never seems strained or artificial. Lawrenceâs music feels genuine. Says Lawrence, âWhen I write music, itâs all about finding that channel where you donât use your mind â you just feel around for what fits â¦â

Lawrence describes the first time he was exposed to the music of one of his musical heroes. âWhen I saw this man and his guitar, he looked possessed,â Lawrence recalls. âIt seemed that the music came from somewhere else and he was just letting it flow through him.â The manifold revelations that assailed his mind and spirit showed him that he too was imbued with a powerful passion for music and that while one may be able to hear the music, not everybody can feel it. The power of Lawrenceâs music is that he does feel it and he translates his passion into music that makes the listener feel it. One might even say heâs a man possessed.

Lawrence placed first in the ninth annual Central Oregon Songwriters Association rock category, nabbing song of the year honors for âIs She Gonna Let Me In.â He also took home the second place prize for âSmooth Electricâ in the folk category. He has received positive press from a number of sources, including, aptly enough, The Source, not to mention Go Magazine. Writing is a daily process and Lawrence is at work on his new EP, following up his debut CD âWhen You Get In.â He is currently working with A&R Select, the hottest indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
