Secret Broadcast is a 3-piece indie-rock outfit which formed in early 2006 after Matt Lightstone moved from Toronto to Calgary, Canada and met Bryan Craig and John De Jesus. Together they started writing songs that combined elements of rock, funk, pop and old-school punk which garnered them an eclectic mix of comparisons including The Rapture, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Pixies, U2 and The Police. In early 2007, with only a rough basement recording under their belt, Secret Broadcast was accepted to perform a showcase at the North by Northeast (NXNE) music festival in Toronto which has since precipitated discussions with record labels in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Their reputation for energetic and memorable live shows also helped solidify an invitation to the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. Secret Broadcastâs debut EP Plastic Fantastic, produced by Zuckerbabyâs Reed Shimozawa, was released independently on August 25th.
