Philadelphia area native Dann Furia, aka SKIP-DAWG, returns to the forefront of independent hip hop music with the release of his third album, âThe Illest Emceeâ. This EP marks an impressive and long-anticipated return for SKIP-DAWG, who in 2005 underwent two intensive surgeries on his lungs at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. A graduate of Princeton University, Furia is also a local Haverford resident who attended Haverford Senior High School.

After recording two albums under A-Train Records in New York City between 2002 and 2004, SKIP-DAWG was forced into a lengthy hip hop hiatus while recovering from two major surgeries in 2005 to repair a genetic condition afflicting his lungs. While the first of the surgeries caused numerous complications including massive blood loss and required four blood transfusions, SKIP-DAWGâs second lung surgery, later the same year, caused extensive nerve damage to 7 vertebrate and to the side of his chest. After spending six months bed-ridden due to painful and debilitating nerve damage, SKIP-DAWG moved from Los Angeles back home to Haverford in June of 2006 and spent 12 months undergoing intensive physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Not only does SKIP-DAWGâs September release, âThe Illest Emceeâ, mark the triumphant and inspirational return of a passionate and talented young rapper, it is only one of many projects with which he is currently involved. SKIP-DAWGâs song âBooker Nationâ can currently be heard on the Q102 Booker Morning Show, with an accompanying music video viewable at www.youtube.com/nnmaddox Furthermore, in August of this year, Interscope Records producer P. Solo aka âBeatgodsâ signed on to executive produce SKIP-DAWGâs next album, tentatively titled âBack Homeâ with an expected release of June, 2008.
