SUPERFUNKTION is centered around the songwriting combo of Canadian, Todd Shymko (Toddy) on Lead Vocals and Dutch born, Marcel Albert (Von Groovemeister) on Backing Vocals and Percussion.
This uniquely funky group based in Tokyo JAPAN is making its name know throughout the world as their popularity grows. English lyrics, mixed with cool style and international flavor have greatly assisted this group to receiving major radio play and invitations to record in secret recording studios. Within the first year theyâve completed this debut album âdisfunksonfireâ.
Fat basslines and funky beats are complimented by Toddyâs M-singing (singing/rapping) style. The 10 tracks are mostly funk based but thereâs definitely some blues, rock, soul and reggae influences taking place during tracks like the inspirational âPeople Get Togetherâ and the ballad âStay With Me Tonight.â
Jazz like solos highlight the talents of many of Tokyoâs up and coming musicians foreign and local.
Including: Drummer Oka Katsumi, Bass player Izumi Masato, Guitarist Mac âThe Knifeâ Okuyama, Keyboardist Kai Ruthrof and Saxophone player Marcus Pittman.
Guest Keyboardist Sean Tait also appears on several tracks.

âdisfunksonfireâ was Engineered and mixed by Ken Nishi (aka, The Spanish Giant). Supervised by some of funks greatest players and wise minds around the globe, itâs obvious that these guys are on theyâre way to becoming legends of their own.
Toddy is quoted as saying in Japan Scope magazine May 2007 issue, âas far as Iâm concerned weâre going to be the first mixed race band to break out of Japan.â
