A newly released jazz album entitled Dan Ramsey/Gentle Giants produced by trumpeter Dan Ramsey is a bonafide treat for lovers of jazz. Ramsey began playing trumpet and drums while in high school in Gastonia, NC. He received his BME from East Carolina University and an MM (Jazz Performance) from University of South Carolina. He taught jazz improvisation at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC.

Playing professionally since high school, Dan has appeared with such artists as:the Platters, Occasions, Lou Rawls, Marvin Stamm, Bob Berg, Chris Potter, Jaco Pastorious and the big bands of Billy Butterfield, Dean Hudson and Johnny Long. He toured Norway and Denmark, appeared with Latin bands in Mexico and Guatemala and played cruise ships out of Ft Lauderdale while working various club dates in Miami. Dan currently works in the Myrtle Beach, SC area where he resides with his wife. Ramsey, who wrote and arranged all the songs, recorded the CD because he wanted to hear some of his work. To accomplish this, he chose four seasoned musicians.

The album Dan Ramsey/Gentle Giants was recorded May 3l and June l, 2002 at Candock Studios in Surfside Beach, SC and engineered and mixed by Rick Salyer.It was mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood.
