ROCK: Acoustic, WORLD: Celtic
Details:
Tom Morrissey (guitar vocals)
is from a town called Mount Pearl, on the island of Newfoundlandin canada He grew up in a musical family - the only son of the late great
Joan Morrissey - Newfoundlandâs âfirst lady of song.â
Tom has been a musician for 27 years and plays many instruments but guitar and singing are his passion. He carries on the tradition of his mother bringing East Coast music all across North America.
Tom now lives in Victoria, BC with his wife Judith where he started HB Studios - a studio that records bands from all walks of life.
The Tom Morrissey Band recorded their debut cd. âIsland Manâ â a blend of rock with East Coast music. Tom wrote 6 of the 10 tracks, with many more original songs to come.
Tom displays a fun rockinâ sense of humor with an East Coast flair.
sherry O'Leary (drums vocals)
One day, Sherry turned the family's folded down tent trailer into a drum riser ala. Ringo Starr on The Ed Sullivan show and started pummeling inverted Rubbermaid buckets. This prompted her mother to say "A rubber bucket's alright Sherry, but you'll never earn a living by it."
Now with TMB, her bucket pummeling has found it's place! Whether it's during special "Kitchen Party" shows or spontaneously in beer tents - for free beer - Sherry has been known to empty the waste basket and keep the beat going with an ice cream scoop.
Her East Coast connection comes from having taken the Jazz Studies Program at St.FX University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. When Tom jokes about Cape Bretoners being Newfoundlanders that ran out of money on the way to Toronto, Sherry recalls the campus dorms and nods in agreement.
Sherry has a strong rudimental snare drum background in Highland pipeband drumming that causes a Celtic "lilt" to permeate her playing and allows her to be creative within TMB's diverse styles. On the song "Newfoundland Shore", she departs from the traditional 1-2-3- waltz by using pipeband drum phrasing mixed with a Celtic/funk feel.
Sherry's other experience includes 80's techno pop , orchestral percussion & big band jazz, gospel, rock, funk, and reggae/calypso. She spent two years in the Caribbean band, "Storm" with a bass player from Barbadoes and a guitarist/lead singer from Jamaica.
sherry is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to keep the party rockin' and the dance floor pumpin'!
Dale Adams (bass guitar)
After she caught him skipping Boy Scouts for the sixth time, Dale's mother made the fatal error of forcing him to take guitar lessons..He
was put on probation, so logically he quit guitar lessons and started a band!
Dale's older sister thought of a name for the teenage band⦠"Idiots".
His father's country and western records were a big influence, prompting Dale to play psychedelic 60's music. Fortunately, his brother's Hawaiian guitar stylings also influenced him to try other types of music.
Dale has played in kitchens all across Western Canada ! And yes, that's a 1971 Fender Jazz Bass he's holding.
