About me:

Being raised up in a large family of ten, I am the fifth oldest sibling. The third oldest girl out of six and four brothers. Singing was a talent God gave me at a young age; I guess you can say I was born with it, along with my other brothers and sisters. At the age of nine I remember my first performance was in elementary school. It was a play I participated in where I was a singing cow, named "Elsie". Even though I only said "Moo" to me that was a big roll, to everyone else they thought it was funny. It gave me a since of direction being on the stage in front of a lot of people. I really had a lot of confidence.

I wasnât scared. I could see everyone was looking at me waiting for my part, they laughed, and they clapped also. After that play I felt I was ready to take on something. I didnât know what it was, but I knew deep down inside of me something was there. After that play I started getting involved in anything pertaining to singing. In Jr high & High school I was in talent shows, even had my own singing group. We always got standing ovations after singing. I thought I could sing like every body. I loved Dionne Warwick, Freda Payne, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin so many. I always knew all of their songs. As I got a little older, still in my teens, my sisters and I started singing professionally with our oldest brother.

He had a band he wrote all of his songs and we would practice at his house or the local studio all the time. That's because we had "gigs" where we had to go and sing in several places, university events, company picnics and nightclubs. My sisters and I recorded two songs my brother wrote for us, along with back-up singing for my brother, back-up singers for country western artists, as well as commercial jingles. I was always serious about singing and yes, practicing too. I have a strong "Faith Believing Mother" that kept us all in church. That played a role in all of our lives as far as what we where doing.

I have always had a deep passion for singing. I have always had this extraordinary voice where I could sing high, low or any vocal part. I guess you could describe it as a strong carrying voice, that over the years I have learn to use it properly. I was a "big voice" in a "little body" people would say. The Lord saved us all and we stopped the secular R&B road and started singing the gospel. I have been a part of choirs, praise teams, but it was always something deep inside of me that wouldnât let me be at peace with just the choir and praise team. I started having dreams and visions; I would be somewhere singing, speaking, and praying. The more I was having these dreams and visions, I was reading the word more, praying more trying to see what it was I was suppose to be doing.

I kind of knew but I wanted that final word from God. And he spoke to me through a message one Sunday I was at church. I knew a lot of people in my church wasnât going to understand but I had to do what God wanted me to do! It then just wasnât singing for me, it had become a ministry for me. Because my singing then was messages God was giving me, I would come home and actually write messages like I thought I was getting ready to preach. God started dealing with me about writing back in 1992. I would write poems and short stories.

If someone would call me and ask me to write a poem for them or someone esle,I would ask them how that person was, what do they like and I would take it from there. Even with my sisters I wouldnât buy a card from the store I would write them a poem. I believe what comes from the heart reaches the heart. I have written several poems for people I know that has lost a loved one, they put them in the obituaries. I have written poems for pastorâs wives at special services. Itâs never hard when someone ask me I say "God, unless you give it to me I cannot do it".

Sometimes it comes all at one time, and other times it comes in pieces, until I have the whole poem or song. God challenged me a lot when I was writing my songs. They would come to me two in the morning, three in the morning. I remember staying up one night almost to six AM! He even wakes me up from dreams, tell me what to write, and give me the way he want me to sing it with no music,except in my mind the way I hear it.

It is so controlling and heavy on me where I just have to get up. I'd find a place at home where I wouldnât disturb my husband. I tell him whatâs going on. I tell him "I canât sleep" so he wouldnât think something was wrong. He turns over and goes back to sleep. I am so thankful for what God has done for me and put in me. It is over whelming sometimes itâs like when he speaks to me to do something I canât hear anything else. His spirit in me is so strong for what I am doing for His glory. I say to people "I am one of the voices crying in the wilderness to make straight the way of the lord". The preachers preach it and I sing it!

Gospel music to me is a tool that God uses for that individual person that has a passion and love for God first, then his people, the old and the young. The lyrics are most important because they will either help you or destroy you. You have to hear a word of God in the message behind the music. It can be one word, two words, or a whole sentence as long as it helps you.

My Album:

This Album âJesus loves Meâ maybe small in the number of tracks, but the words are large and spiritual enough for a child to understand and everyone that listens will hear from God whatever their situation may be. There is hope and love and joy thatâs in each song because it all comes from God. The album has a gospel, ministering, motivating,
contemporary sound that is pleasant to the listening ears.
It not hard for anyone to know that Jesus loves you because he does. We all learned that growing up singing that verse. But now it is a reality. He does love us and is concerned about us, our needs, how we feel and how we think. These songs are a way to help that special person understand that what they are going through they are not alone. I go through it too, but God gave me songs to help me get through it.
