ELIK ALVAREZ

Continuously working to excel on any of his endeavors, composer Elik Alvarez shines in a career that spans for more than a decade. A true believer that, with a dream and a vision, anything and everything is possible, Elik Alvarez has already achieved incredible recognition in the competitive film and television industry. With a contagious and inspiring energy, Elik is always committed to provide the perfect alliance between music and the screen.

Born in 1974 in Valencia, Venezuela, Elik was influenced by the passionate piano playing of his relatives, as well as the endless classical music records played on his grandfatherâs then state the art Panasonic 33 LP. His formal musical studies began behind the piano at the age of eight. During his teen years he founded his own band and began composing and performing extensively. In 1994, with longtime friend and colleague Jorge Isaac, he co-created the block-flute/piano duo âBugambiâ. A year later, they recorded their first production, which received rave reviews from the Venezuelan press.

In 1998, to further his musical experience and education, Elik moved to Boston, Massachusetts to study at the world renowned Berklee College of Music. He rapidly earned recognition in the Berklee community receiving many scholarships and awards including the prestigious "Georges Delerue Award" for his outstanding achievement as a Film Scoring Major. In April of 2000, Elik was selected to represent the Film Scoring Department at the awards ceremony for the Professional Writing Division. For the ceremony, Elik composed original music and conducted a 48 piece orchestra at the Berklee Performance Center. In summer 2000, Elik graduated from Berklee with the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude.

This same year he relocated to Los Angeles, California and was quickly called on to write music for numerous film and television projects (see credits). In 2003, Elik was asked to be the liaison for a massive collaboration between the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and Envisage Entertainment for the production of the score to the Miramax film âLil Pimpâ. Elik wrote and arranged music for this film and was the musical director throughout the recording sessions in Caracas, Venezuela. Additionally during his stay in Caracas, he conducted and recorded a selection of musical compositions including a tribute to Academy Award winner composer Georges Delerue, as well as an arrangement for flute, cuatro and orchestra for Simon Diasâ âSabanaâ.

In 2004, Elik was granted permanent residence in the United States based on his exceptional abilities, achievements and contributions as an artist. Since then, his career continues to move, grow and develop at a rapid pace.

Currently Elik resides in Pasadena, California with his wife Saharai and his pug dog Lucas Alexander.
