Brief Biography
New Album Release December 11, 2006
Album Title: J.A. Allen / VoV
J.A Allen has been playing guitar since the age of 6. âI had a guitar my Dad gave me, it was not a Dean, but it was an electric, and I loved it, plus he got me one of those big 2x15 Standell amps, and it was awesome, didnât know how to play yet, but got a few chords and away we went!â As a teen, J.A. was in numerous small bands, and it wasnât until he turned 21 that he decided to take things more serious. âI was not actually finding anyone where I grew up, who wanted to take it seriously like I wanted, but that changed after I was old enough to get into the clubsâ. He was able at that time to hook up with a band that needed a quick replacement fast. âThe KIX guys were on the way down at that time, and they needed a quick stand-in. I met them at Lamours in Brooklyn, and so I did that for some of the east coast Hot Wire shows and other stuff, and then got canned, a nobody, but the experience was all worth it.â
After that very brief outing, J.A. co-formed Killer Justice. âThat band was great, great guys and we did record an album, but it didnât go anywhere, that stuff is at my site to listen to.â
Then he went on to play in a local central Jersey band, called Dedd Vinyl. âThat stuff was a lot of fun, really heavy and strange, I loved it, but the record financing killed us, I have all the pre-production stuff from that, also at the site, and I still listen to it, it is funny sometimes, as a musician, how you change your true ways of playing for each band. I finally realized that was a problemâ.
Now, J.A. is out on his own, and ready to release his first album, VoV âVampire of Vaudevilleâ. A fully pro-aggressive instrumental album from left fieldâ¦â¦!
âI am older now, and so, this is the real deal for me, I have worked really hard to make it something I can really love, and want to share with the world, hopefully (laughs), My only dream has been to have something for myself, and if others really dig it, and get the groove and visions of the songs, well, man, thatâs worth all the work and money it went through! So far I have put some previews on the Dean site, and actually have contributions in playing and production respectively from two Dean Forum members, Kevphol (Kevin Holliman) and Bri54 (Brian Ciuffreda) for this. I love them for their work, dedication and help on this mess!â
J.A. Plays Dean USA and 79 Series MLâs on the album and on-stage. âI play other guitars, sure, but I always seem to stick to the MLâs. They are great visually, but more important, play like a dream, top notch quality from USA down to the imports, nothing even comes close, and they are extremely stable, My USA models and 79âs just hold up. For next years tour, I plan on just taking them out from here on in, they are just the real deal, and Dean has taken care of me like no other company ever has, and they also just look so cool onstage, and isnât that whatâs really important! (Laughs)!
So enjoy this song, and watch for information on VoV on the dean site, (J.A.âs handle is ja1010) and at the VoV site, http://vov.tentenland.net.
Thank you and hope to see you all with J.A. Allen soon!
