Details:
Jozand started producing instrumentals and writing songs in 2003. In 2004, Jozand put himself on the map by releasing his debut album, "Central PA." As he admits in his song "Yesterday" (2007), the album was a disappointment. He attributes his current success to the criticism he received when he first began rapping. At the beginning of 2005, Jozand teamed up with rappers Tammingeye and GMarsh to release "The Groove Theory" under the group name of RTR. In 2006, Jozand and the production duo Ice Cold Productions released "Unexpected," his best-selling album to date. On June 5th, 2007, Jozand released his most ambitious and last album, "Finally." "Finally" has garnered radio play and tremendous local respect. According to a Central Pennsylvanian newspaper review, Jozand's last album "embodies what is right in hip hop at a time when almost nothing is right in hip hop." Never one to speak about something with which he cannot relate, Jozand describes Finally as "a true look into [his] life." He states, "I tried to incorporate my personality into 'Finally.' I've never lied through music, but I have taken liberties. 'Finally' is me; there is no absurd violence or drug use. I've always been one to joke around, so I definitely put a lot of humor into the CD. I also tried to deal with some sensitive subjects - I have matured as an individual and an artist. I think both are apparent when listening to 'Finally.'" Usually self-produced, Jozand chose to enlist national help for "Finally." While he handles the duty on two tracks, twelve songs are produced by 10 other musicians. Jozand claims that this allows for "an increase in the diversity of [his] sound." Light on features, "Finally" does showcase the work of two vocalists (Lil' Danny and Candace Smith) and two local rappers (T-Gentz and Leroy Jones). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Jozand's 'Finally' is an example of hip hop done correctly. Whether implementing complex rhyme structure or incorporating hilarious jabs into his work, Jozand keeps the listener on edge. Song subjects range from a solemn look into a young girl's tumultuous life to an ode to removing clothing to the purpose of life. For surprising diversity and solid wordplay and production, look no further than Jozand's last album, 'Finally.'" - Ron Jamison, CDT
