Moody, haunting pop. Lush arrangements. If David Bowie and Pink Floyd had a baby, this would be it.
4 MP3 Songs
POP: Psychedelic Pop, ROCK: Glam
Details:
Just as it implies, Welcome to Loveland is the introduction EP for the band Lostdog in Loveland. This four song CD is filled with dark, moody vocals layered over lush, textured arrangements. Reminiscent of early glam such as David Bowie and Roxy music, Lostdog takes it to a new sophisticated level. Speaking of Bowie, three of the four tracks feature David's pianist, Mike Garson. Mike shines on these tracks. Aladdin Sane fans will marvel over his playing on You're Lucky You're Beautiful, a haunting song which at first listen comes off as a sexist rant but on deeper inspection it reveals itself as a song about a man dealing with his own weakness and insecurities.
Other tracks are Rocketship, a melancholy tune about dealing with loss and pain. Halfway (It's OK) which is an anthem for the quitters and Green Isn't Green, an infectious, glamourous pop song that holds a mirror to anyone who isn't open to other points of view.
Lostdog in Loveland consists of Robert Mag, John Winhimmer and Robert Bunnyman Rocco who have all played together on and off for many years, starting in the mid 80's in the punk/art rock band Snapshots, often seen at CBGB's, Pyramid Club, Mud Club and many other New York City clubs. After the break up, Robert and John continued to play live shows under the names Bird Number Nine and Lostdog, finally calling it quits in the mid 90's. In the spring of 2006, the three decided to regroup with a new approach. Instead of focusing on live performances, they spend their time in the studio writing and recording. Perfecting the sound that is Lostdog in Loveland.
Welcome.
