Details:
âSaidaâ Watson began singing at a very early age. Gospel choirs, school ensembles, and local talent shows where she wowed audiences and gained favor and respect. She studied piano and voice with professors and private instructors in and around Central Florida where she grew up.
Saida moved to New York City to further develop her craft. Little did she know that this would be the launching pad for a world of experience and opportunity. She began studying at Jazz Mobile with well known musicians such as Michelle Hendricks, John Hendricks daughter. She furthered her studies with The Great Al Hibbler, the late great Hilton Ruiz and the late Jimmy Garrett , music director for the Supremes, to name a few.
Sai, as she is affectionately known, performed with The Conneticut Opera in the hit Broadway Musical, Porgy and Bess. She also performed with Tamborines to Glory, another musical play, where she was an understudy for the night club singer group The Gloryettas.
Her New York experiences earned her the opportunity to audition for and be hired by an agency which booked tours in Japan. The group Three Sounds Plus One, Plus One being Saida, performed in Japan and several surrounding cities. The original tour was scheduled for two months however, with Saidaâs graceful and soothing vocals leading the way, the group was offered an extended contract to tour the area for one year, performing in front of packed rooms every single night!
Recently Saida has performed in Chicago with noted saxophonist Ray Silkman. Silkman featured Saida at the Taste of Chicago, the South Shore Cultural Center, Valparaiso University, the Cotton Club, Bourbon Street and the Allerton East Hotel Ballroom.
Saida is also a known poet, combining poetry and song in her one woman show. She educates and entertains by introducing audiences to the array of exotic and international musical instruments that she has mastered. Her poetry talents have been recognized by The International Society of Poets where she was nominated International Poet of The Year. She has also received three Editorâs Choice Awards for her poetry.
Saida has independently released two CDs. Sai Chronics Words From âThe Spiritâ, which was released in 2006 featured original poetry and song. The CD began demanding numerous orders upon its release. Her second solo work entitled Saiâs In The City was released February of 2007 and is already in great demand from music lovers all over the country. Sai caters to her audiences via her very own website. www.saichronics.com. This extraordinary performer has managed to sculpt her career on many fronts including The Far East. She has returned to the United States to continue sharing her gifts in songwriting, poetry and vocal stylings.
