METAL/PUNK: Heavy Metal, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
âTyranny Of Minorityâ is 12 tracks of scorching traditional metal and marks the debut release from UK metallers VENDETTA. Formed in early 2006 by guitarist/vocalist Edward Box (an instrumentalist of considerable repute with 2 solo albums available on Lion Music) who wanted to broaden his musical base and return to the roots of his obsession - traditional metal. Guitarist Pete Thompson and bass player Gary Foalle were swiftly recruited and, in the absence of a permanent drummer, Ed called in the services of long-time Box stalwart Mick Robson to temporarily complete the line-up. Not for this band the endless grind of low key gigs, experience had taught them that this was not necessarily the best plan of attack. The mission was set - to make an album of classic metal anthems, one that would capture the essence of the music that had driven these men since their youths in the rain swept hills of Cumbria and the industrial wastes of the North East of England. With the album complete the search was on for a permanent drummer with Chris Higgins recruited to the ranks. With âTyranny Of Minorityâ VENDETTA have produced a debut album of timeless quality, one that reflects not only the world in which we live, but is testament to the power of musical faith. One of the bands main goals was to place a strong emphasis on great hooks and tight arrangements. The last Vendetta wanted was for the album to become bloated and outstay its welcome. âTyranny Of Minorityâ is packed full of guitars with soloâs that trade off a la Tipton and Downing, harmonies and a wide range of different tonalities. Lyrically the album covers many subjects from social decay and inner-city problems (Generation Kill), the capacity for violence within the human race (I Executioner), internal struggles (Doorways of the Mind and Window of the Soul), the âhave now, pay laterâ mentality (Plastic God), traditional metal lyrics of gangs (No Safe Hole), everlasting mortality (Bones To Dust), mankind destroying its domain (Red Skies), education (Golden Boy) and the domino effect (All Fall Down). On assuming his new role as vocalist and deliverer of the lyrics Edward Box comments, âFrom a personal point of view the vocals presented a huge challenge and I prepared myself for 18 months prior to recording to extend my range and develop a style of singing that felt comfortable but would fit the musicâ. Essentially, âTyranny of Minorityâ is the type of album you have blasting before you go out on a Friday night. It is the perfect way to get your metal weekend started! VENDETTA are on the warpath, hell bent on staking their claim in the pantheon of Metal. You're either for or against them, there's no in-between.
