Lu began singing with her mother teaching her. As a teen-ager she attended some amateur contests as guitarist and singer with the folk band Plastic Doves. She records as backing vocalist with the group Stormy Six. In the 70s she worked for the advertising world and the theatre and met David Riondino, with whom she worked for many years. In 1980 she recorded Maracaibo, a ballad about love and adventure, to which she added a dance flavour, to make it appealing for the 80s people.
