For a few years in the Boy Scouts, the bugle was my intro to playing a brass instrument. Later, at Howard University I would practice the trumpet until my chops got tired then switch to the piano--back and forth like that. Dr. Donald Byrd was my first trumpet and composition teacher. These days I take trumpet lessons from Roy Sinclair Campbell, that is, when heâs in the States between European tours.

Since INVISIBLE MAN(http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bevin), Roy has encouraged me to stretch out and explore speaking, screaming, and crying on the trumpet. For me, thanks to Roy and Dr. Byrd, Iâve discovered a new vibe brass voice to complement my keyboard voices.

NEW VIBE DRIVE-- A great big smile with renewed spirit-- coming on like a clear highway headed in the right direction.

TRUMPET PLAZA is a fictional place like NEW JAZZ CITY (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bevin2), only this time with a new voice.

MMVII (2007) is a computerized, transistorized, capacitorized, integrated circuitized, technological soundscape.

VIBRATION LOVE CALL was composed by the visionary, Khaliq Drew and myself. During a lifetime we love many more people in spirit than we ever could physically.

THIS MIGHT BE LOVE is the only piece on this collection with vocals. It is written with Radiance in mind.

RUOK? is a caring question I often ask my friend, Karen who plays the flute. This is for you and the beauty of your triumph.

SOLAR WIND and MIRROR GAME DANCE are pieces inspired by Luz, my yoga instructor. Both pieces--meditative in nature--feature the world famous tabla master, Bidal Roi.

DON'T PANIC! is a secret mantra I repeat to myself that helps me deal with lifeâs ups and downs.
