Out of the small, country town of Catoosa, Oklahoma emerges a Christian, Indie-Alternative Rock band that is urging to spread the Gospel of Godâs love through their music to a world that is lost in lust and selfishness. Fronted by Jeremy Wilson, Birthright is comprised of members Chris Wilson on drums, Jeremy Wilson and Bryan Pelky on guitar, Kandis Spencer on bass and Vicki Pelky rounding out their sound on keys and backup vocals. Not just your average, âego-drivenâ rockers, this super fresh and innovative group cites influences such as Disciple, Steven Curtis Chapman, Rebecca St. James, Flyleaf, Michael Card, Gaither Vocal Band, Michael English, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, Mercy Me and many more. Yet, Birthright sews together their music with a combination of musical and spiritual influences along with a sound crafted by their own personal passions.

Behind Jeremyâs song-writing lies a heart-filled person with a passion for people with ministry and testimonial driven lyrics that will take your heart by surprise and bring an unexpected tear to your eye. In fact, not only Jeremy but all these five eager âCatoosiansâ will catch you off guard with their ministry-driven hearts & spirits. Get them on stage and they will explode with a passion that is rarely witnessed among todayâs age-versatile bands.

Birthrightâs music is probably best described by Jeremy himself. âOur music is written with a specific purpose and that purpose is to help spread the word of Godâs love to a world that is loveless and so alone. It is joyful, sorrowful, angry, loving and yet hated by those who love to hate. It is about life, the meaning of life, our failures, our dreams, our shortcomings and our over-comings. Our message and our goal is to bring hope and love through Jesus Christ to the hopeless, the hurt, the dying and the lost. We desire that all should come to know Jesus Christ and experience the love and compassion that He has given to usâ. With their music inspired by Love, how could you not fall in love with both the music and the message behind it?

The band members met through going to the same church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and playing together as the Praise and Worship Band for Vacancy Youth Group which is also at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Since forming the band they have played at several local and surrounding area Churches such as Church of the Shepherd United Methodist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church and others as well as Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. They have also opened for a fast rising band formerly known as â7th Sealâ and now named âSending68â.

Birthright is currently unsigned and has just finished recording their first CD back in March of 2007, named âBirthright â Called Outâ. The band spent time with Louis Drapp, owner/operator of Drapp Studios in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who was one of the first to record âThe Hansensâ.

Birthright highly anticipates the move to turn the message of their music into a full-time music ministry. âThe Lord has greatly blessed us within the few months that we have been together, even to the point of allowing us to produce our first CD and open for a bigger named band, Sending 68. So we canât wait to see what God has in store for us in the near future. Iâm feeling full time, evangelistic music ministryâ, says Jeremy.
