Details:
Chris Pierson is not your quintessential solo artist. Its not puppy love or the fresh scent of a sour breakup that gets him going. Its life. The relevancy of its fortunes and misfortunes is what inspires Chris as a songwriter. âDarkness and light are two beautiful things, Chris says. They have to work together to make what we know in our own lives. I have learned to except both failure and accomplishment with the same humble attitude. Life is a journey, you have to get knocked down to figure out how to get back up again. Thatâs what makes us who we are, our abilities to learn. Rock star Supernova was an interesting experience. It was a lot of fun but most importantly it taught me how to deal with criticism from the media and helped me realize that I needed to go back to the drawing board a bit. I needed some time to really figure out who Chris Pierson really was and what I stood for. So I took 9 months or so and really focused on the things I feel are important to me and what I think falls true with the rest of the world. I wanted to be able to make a stain in the fabric of time.â So reinvention was the name of the game for Chris and as more confusion and chaos fill our hyper sensitive ear drums and minds these days Chris felt that the timing to release a solo EP entitled âThe Height of Paranoiaâ was perfect. Filled with heavy guitar riffs and soaring melodic vocals, this EP is a glimpse into Chrisâ mind and the struggle to find himself and also of what is to come from a much anticipated full length album scheduled to be released later this year. âI learned a lot from writing and producing this album. I have finally figured out who I am becoming. Now I am ready to make the move again into the spotlight but only by understanding what Iâve gone through to get here is what makes me appreciate it.
As a performer Chris and his seasoned band of Atlanta vets which includeâ¦
Kent Aberle (drums, backing vox)
George Marlow (lead guitar)
Jake Kitchen (bass, backing vox)
â¦have got what it takes to be the next big thing in rock and roll. Every show is tight, well planned, and full of energy. In their short existence Chris and his band have already taken the Midwest by storm. They put a string of 18 shows over 23 days together in May to kick off and promote the new EP. It was slow and arduous at the beginning but by the second week of touring crowds were coming in to each show by the mobs, some driving over 3 hours to see the next show. One would expect the focus to be on Chris but then you are pleasantly surprised by a roaring guitar solo from George in the opening song of the set called âAliveâ. The set flows seamlessly as they approach the end of the 3rd song, in which Chris calls his ârise above the ignorance dishâ, appropriately titled âThe Callâ. Both Kent and Chris then greet the crowd as if they were old friends. Chris seems to chuckle when looking into the crowd as I am sure he is seeing some familiar faces in the front. âHowâs everybody feeling out there?â The crowd responds with a reliant âHELL YEAHâ and then the next song screams right in. âWe really wanted to do a cool cover song that fit the band and allowed us to have a little fun at the same timeâ, Chris says. The pleasant surprise being âWicked Gardenâ by STP. A smooth transition into a song called âGenocideâ, which is becoming a crowd favorite, streams right through with its hooky chorusâ and almost new wavy dance grooves. Then the lighters come out for a song called âIt Means Nothingâ. âI wrote this song in one afternoon and went in to the studio the next day and recorded it. That was the day I realized a lot of the things I worry about are really petty and wouldnât amount to much in the grand scheme of things.â The pace gets picked up and pounded in with the next few songs and as the end of the show approaches the band breaks in the middle of a song called âDebrisâ. The crowd knows what is coming as Kent stands and raises his sticks and begins a drum solo that at times gives you goose bumps because you just realized how good this band really is. The song pumps back in with the last chorus and ends with a bang leaving you wanting more. Chris thanks everyone including the band and they all go straight into the crowd to hang out and meet everyone. âThese are real guys that love to influence and be influenced by the good things that surround them. There is always a good time following that band, thatâs why my wife and I keep coming backâ, an avid fan says.
With two more full tours, a full length record and gobs of regional shows in the works for the rest of 2007, this band is set to make an impact on the country. The band works and plays equally as hard but as Chris says, âthere is a time for work and a time for play but there must be a medium so no one loses focus of the ultimate goal, to be the best at what we do!â
There are many layers to this band and its dynamic. The possibilities are endless with stellar shows, a great CD, and a drive to succeed that compares to no other. Chris Pierson and his band are ready to go the distance. The question is, will you follow?
