He has portrayed a wide array of 59 principal roles with the San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Washington Opera (Kennedy Center), Chicago Lyric Opera, Hamburg State Opera (Germany), and other opera companies around the world.
David has also been featured guest soloist with virtually every major North American symphony orchestra and with other great orchestras and music festivals on four continents. He appears on 15 classical CDs for RCA, BMG, Telarc, Decca, and other major labels in eight centuries of repertoire.
Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as "one of the world's great Bach tenors," David is especially known for his vivid and stylish performance Bach's music in hundreds of concerts throughout North America, Europe, and Japan.
David is on the senior artistic staff of the Carmel Bach Festival. As Director of Education he creates the Festival's annual 50-event series of lectures, seminars, and outreach events. He also serves as Director of the Festival's nationally renowned training program for young professional singers.
David Gordon has served on the faculty of Sonoma State University and the University of California, Berkeley. He is a guest faculty artist at the Cincinnati (Ohio) Conservatory, where he coaches singers and instrumentalists in the Grandin Festival, a summer vocal workshop.
