The sound of the flute with its harmonics and over tones is how I imagine the sound of transcendence. As it happened the flute is the Garden of Eden where all things musical began for me. From that beginning I always felt that the flute if allowed to interact with itself through the use of a giant cathedral like sustain could become almost orchestral. This minimalist approach to an extended raga that last over 47 minutes is inspired by the unusual string of events that allowed me to discover the effect of flute music on the human condition. I arrived at my idea after playing flute behind Lynn Andrews for several years during her visualization meditations. Music with intention mixed with meditation and imagination are the ingredients of spiritual awakening and healing. My intention is a giant but soft flute nudging your subconscience into relaxation and a hieghtened since of direction. After I put this project together I realized I had only rediscovered something about the flute that goes way back. Playing my flute like this has brought as much joy into my life as I could ever imagine. I hope to pass that on to you.
