Jack MacDonald was born somewhere among the stars in 1948. For the first few years of his life he wandered around and was young. And then he became not so young. He wandered still and the stars wandered with him. The Universe became stormy and for a while Jack almost became a Pirate, but didn't. On planet Earth settled in Cape Breton and then he moved to Dartmouth Nova Scotia and meet Ceti Alpha in 1999. Together they spent Sundays together and recorded two albums a year. They have over 19 albums, including 2 Christmas albums. Recording and playing with Call Center, The Hotel Faces, and many other acts, Jack continues to make music. His albums are sold on Cdbaby and by him on the streets of Dartmouth/Halifax as well as door to door around various Metro area. He says he is presently considering buying a White Van to increase "door to door opportunities".

Jack is an unusual fixture in Dartmouth/Halifax. He has many fans who await his new zany folk albums. When a new album is made, Jack will bring them door to door to his fan base, stopping in for tea and cookies to rest his feet and to tell them about how he feels about his new songs, and about the next one to come. He is always after new fans and will knock on any door he can.

"Showdown Explosion" is the first of 19 musical albums to have been recorded of Jack. At the time (2001) Ceti Alpha (Nick Bevan-John)was a young student in Dartmouth/Halifax NS Canada. One day, on the street corner, he saw a bulk of a man shuffling his feet and announcing "Poetry for a dollar!". Nick offered two, for a reading. They made him feel like he was being told secrets. He watched people walk by as Jack was telling such wonderful crazy secrets, and jokes, and couldn't understand why no one else could hear him.

Iniviting Jack over to his place Nick documented Jack's poetry and released his first poetry album followed by a Christmas album "Winter Wonderland" including such poems and stories as "Santa Smokes A Toke" and "Dear Santy Santy".

Somewhere along the lines a guitar was picked up, keyboards lit and the screaming and whispering and swaying of the hidden Canadian treasure of Jack MacDonald began.

Jack's music is playful, serious, insane, real, unbelievable, uncomprimised, and heart felt, and is now available to the World.
