Johnny Christian - I need a haircut, boss
When I learned my first guitar chords from my Uncle Harvey I was living in Kentucky. You could have mistaken
my Uncle Harvey for Johnny Cash. He looked like him and sounded like him too. He showed me the basic chords,
and showed me how to play the bass notes with my thumb. This style of guitar accompaniment is the basis for
most of the songs on this collection of songs.
Most of these songs are a result of spontanious creation. Several came into being in the shower, a few while cooking dinner, and at least one while driving in the car. Sometimes a song will get in my head, so I write it down and work on it as I get the chance.
About the time of the birth of my second beautiful daughter, Joy, on July 18, 2007 I started recording the
songs and putting them on my MySpace page: www.myspace.com/johhnnychristian. I noticed that more people were coming to the site, and I received encouragement from my friends who liked the songs and liked the instruments I was backing the songs with (guitar, fiddle, mandolin). One of the first songs I put up on the site was "Johnny boy country music". I started with acoustic guitar, fiddle and mandolin, then put a simple drum track on "On your own". I liked that sound so much that I started using it on all the songs from then on.
Many of the songs were recorded and then changed and re-recorded until I was happy with the way they sounded.
Technical perfection was not the goal, but a strong desire to keep the songwriting process flowing. The byproduct
of all of this is me having a great time making music!
One of the things I love about c.d.baby.com is that you can come to the site and listen to the songs to decide
if you like them or not. Even if you don't buy the c.d. I'd like to say thanks for coming by and listening
to my music. Thank You - John Christian
