JIMMY YOUNG aka "THE REAL JIMMY YOUNG" was born and raised in Mount Vernon, N.Y.---JIMMY started his musical journey as an R&B singer in the early 80's. He released his first single entitled "TIMES ARE TIGHT" IN 1983. The song was a "TOP 20" dance hit in the U.K.--JIMMY was also interviewed on the JOE FRANKLIN T.V. SHOW in New York promoting his record. His next single, "TWENTY-FOUR SEVEN" (24/7) was released in 1985 also in the U.K. with moderate success. From 1987 onward, JIMMY'S voice began to appear on record after record by many Gold and Platinum artists. You hear his voice on "SWEET THING" by KWAME, also SALT-N-PEPA's "SHAKE YOUR THANG"---"TWIST and SHOUT"---"A SALT WITH A DEADLY PEPA"--"CLUBHOUSE"(duet with Salt-n-Pepa) and more. The recording sessions continue with KID-N-PLAY where JIMMY is singing on "2 HYPE" -"ROLL WITH KID-N-PLAY"---and "UNDERCOVER"........
Now entering into the arena we have the rapper DANA DANE where JIMMY is singing on "CINDERFELLA DANA DANE"---"DANA DANE WITH FAME"---"DANA DANE 4 EVER" and much much more. Included in the pages of history, SWEET TEE is on the mic, working on her album and JIMMY is singing on the song "WORKOUT". Next we have a nice hip-hop ballard recorded by the artist KID FLASH on CBS/TABU records entitled "LOVE THING" where JIMMY'S vocals add that old school flava. The track was produced by VANDY COLTER aka (VANDY C). As the Studio Manager of Bayside Sounds recording studio, JIMMY began to sharpen his production skills. He assisted Artist/Producers FULL FORCE on several projects including albums by JAMES BROWN("I'M REAL"),--LaTOYA JACKSON, LISA LISA & CULT JAM, U.T.F.O. CHUBB ROCK and more..He also assisted many other producers including DAVID ENG while working with artists- SNOW, THE BAD BOYS and more, also--Songwriter/Producer KEITH DIAMOND(BILLY OCEAN-"CARIBBEAN QUEEN")..Singer/Songwriter/Producer LA-LA (WHITNEY HOUSTON, GLENN JONES, STEPHANIE MILLS)....and Producer HURBY "Luv Bug" AZOR(Various Artists). JIMMY has performed with CHERYL PEPSII RILEY, CAROL WILLIAMS, ALL THE WAY LIVE, WHISTLE, SALT-N-PEPA, U.T.F.O. and more.
As a songwriter, JIMMY has worked with legendary talents including Songwriter/Producer and former partner to(BERRY GORDY) ROQUEL "BILLY" DAVIS ("REET PETITE","LONELY TEARDROPS"-JACKIE WILSON)--("RESCUE ME"-FONTELLA BASS)..."I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING"---and many t.v. commercials for COKE such as "IT'S THE REAL THING"--"HAVE A COKE AND A SMILE"....and sooooo many other hit records. JIMMY met BILLY DAVIS in the early 90's and says that Billy taught him to "NEVER settle for a good song, always try to make it a GREAT song.....
