Details:
Bournemouth based singer-songwriter Lou Brown is making an increasing impact on the national acoustic scene. Her catalogue of self-penned material is extensive; from catchy melodies such as 'Isn't She Amazing', 'The Old Way' and 'What Are You Singing About', to classically crafted ballads including 'These Arms' and 'Morning Light'. It isn't surprising that many of Lou's tracks are already fast becoming standards in and around her local area.
Having first picked up a guitar at age nine, Lou has now been playing and creating original material for over 20 years - and it shows. Her use of multiple capo placings (partial and regular) create unique altered tunings that give her songs an original and quirky quality. This combined with a wonderfully husky yet clear vocal range make her music a force to be reckoned with, and one to watch out for in the coming months.
In 2003 Lou Brown walked away with the Southwest's Young Achiever of the Year Award and subsequently won an impressive £5000 grant from the Prince's Trust to fund her first major album project. Lou went on to take part in the Prince's Trust's 'Soundlive' programme where she was offered the valuable opportunity to learn both vocal and instrumental skills from professional working musicians.
In addition to extensive and hugely successful live performances - both as a solo artist and with effective backing bands, Lou has recently enjoyed regular airplay on popular regional radio stations such as Wave 105 FM,
Original 106 FM, Forest FM and Hope FM.
Lou's new album 'What Are You Singing About?' was released in the fall of 2007. This eagerly awaited collection of original music will no doubt finally satiate those avid Lou Brown fans who, until now, have had to make do with following Lou from gig to gig faithfully hollering out the lyrics and agreeing that they too want to do it 'The Old Way'.
The album is currently No 30 in the UK Borders album chart outselling Ana di Franco and Babyshambles.
