Details:
This is the work of guitarist Loba and bassist Serge from Cote D'Ivoire , performing with some friends( jazz musicians from the metro Detroit area).
A breath of fresh air, deep sound from Africa with a universal flavor, an expression of contemporary jazz in an african setting, everybody is served, traditional african music meets jazz, smooth african vocals turns blends well with jazzy flute, guitar bass and drums .From the deep sound of Owaley inspired from coastal vocals tunes to the sublime Mansani inspired from sub-saheran african melodies, with a pulse driven by the bass the drums and the congas.Obli the drum is a mean of expression in african style, it is inspired from african traditions(language of the drums) brought to the western world by late Professor Niangoran Boua from Cote DâIvoire, through various thesis and seminars throughout the world. The call response so often used in jazz has its roots in Africa.Lâouverture and this version of Timbuktu present Loba's guitar artistry.
Azazu inspired by the late great Ivorian singer Lougah, just brings memories of an early Cote DâIvoire where it felt good to live
This set was recorded 15 years ago, but the music is so actual and so fresh , it includes all original members of Loba African Rhythms in Detroit
