The MMA is a Record label that chronicles the work of Mike Mahaffay going back to the early 1970's. His music is so filled with the reality of our being/existence that it is no longer something we do; it has become something that is. Improvisation is the core of his work: spontaneous creation. It is through the music, in both the individual and collective sense, that the process of self-realization takes place.

Music from the rim of the Volcano, is a musical picture of the Creative Process. The Creative Process passes through three stages: 1) The initial eruption of raw material: 2) The cooling and creation of the "green valley": 3) The breakdown and dissolution into the desert. The five tracks are a series of "initial eruptions" featuring the following musicians:
