Marcelina born in Las Vegas, New Mexico where the Sangre De Cristo Mountains are overlooking the Plains.
Raised by maternal side of her family in a Catholic home with strong hispanic cultural background, spanish heritage and spiritual ideals. She faced surmountable odds since birth. Abandoned by her father before birth, she searched for him after graduation only to be denied his name three times. She pursued her Masters in Clinical Social Work, She married and gave birth to her children. Marcelina's husband provides her with the love and support and the confidence to reach her dreams, she says she loves him for his caring nature and because he never tells her "no!" Soon therafter Marcelina's father searched for her to be denied by her family. He was diagnosed with Alzheimers when the opportunity arose to meet him, he didn't no his name much less Marcelina's. Marcelina gains her strength from the alienation, isolation, persecution and inspiration she has dealt with all her life from others. Marcelinas maternal side of the family provided her with the loving, nurturing support with a limited means for survival, she gains her strength also from her mother and the lullabyes she sang to her as a child are the memories she shares to you from the songs she sings. Her mother married when Marcelina was age 10 her step father gave her a guitar for Christmas and encouraged her to pursue her goal to sing her mothers songs. This man was a major part of her life, it took years for Marcelina to realize this she now calls him dad, although he was not her biological father Vidal has provided for her, she had been looking for her father only to wake up one day with tears in her eyes and face the fact that this man really has been there for her all these years. There have also been many inspirational leaders and role models that assisted Marcelina in this endeavor with the assistance of her spirituality she believes the Lord is her father in every thing she does she turns to him for guidance and is greatful for all the blessings he has bestowed upon her and her family.
