In light of the current state of global affairs, the next generation of young MCâsâmany of whom come from the African Diasporaâbelieve hip-hop must reclaim its educational and political character, and that it can do so without diminishing its marketability. At the forefront of this new wave in hip-hop stand Pelé and KJ Conteh. Pelé is a South African-American artist with the aim and ability to impact both the life of a party and the course of world politics. KJ Conteh is a Gambian-American producer/songwriter, and one of underground Hip Hop's most eclectic beatmakers. His arsenal of beats range from East coast, West coast, Dirty South, and classical African music. The two childhood friends joined forces in 2006 creating their independent production company, KPEntertainment. Now a year later, KPEntertainment is releasing its sophomore album, The Vyndication Vol. 1, an album which showcases each artistâs different yet complementary style.
