Details:
A New England favorite, Joanne Piazzi brings you stories to make you laugh and gasp and shout and sing! Joanneâs performances are a blend of original stories and traditional tales with a twist or two, just right for family audiences. Audiences have been known to cluck like chickens and dance like pirates when Joanne is in the room!
You may have seen her at the Three Apples Storytelling Festival, the Portsmouth Maritime Festival, Hackmatack Playhouse, Tell it in the Mountains!, the Rochester Opera House, Strawbery Banke Museum, or at one of many area schools and libraries. The material she uses in her performances is often original, sometimes traditional, and always fun. Her engaging and energetic style combined with a keen sense of humor captivates audiences of all ages - yes, even middle-schoolers. She is available to perform for children or adults (or both) at parties, schools, libraries, museums, festivals, or anywhere that someone wants to hear a good story.
Her CD "Lemmetellya! New Twists on Old Tales" is a collection of folk and fairy tales that have been given new life with Joanneâs unique brand of wry humor.
"The Clever Fairy and the Leprechaun King" is an original variation of a traditional Turkish folktale, in which a persistant fairy outsmarts the greedy leprechaun who has stolen her gold.
"The REAL Princess and the Pea" - a slightly better-explained version of the story by Hans Christian Andersen. The prince, you see, is a spoiled brat, and he gets the princess he deserves.
"The Golden Rule" - Even the Big Bad Wolf must have had embarassing relatives. Big Stupid Wolf takes the cake.
"Puss-In-Boots-Erella" - Boy Meets Girl (with the help of Puss) but she doesn't like the cat or his boots! And Martha of Stewart sticking her nose in doesn't help any!
âVery inventive! (Her) voice work is delightful, crisp, fitting the characters as snugly as Pussâ boots.â Michael Parent, storyteller, Portland, ME. Everyone in the family will enjoy hearing these clever stories again and again.
Joanne is a resident of Rochester, NH. She is a veteran teacher, seamstress, and costume designer, and has been telling stories professionally since 1996. She has a Masterâs Degree in the Creative Arts in Education from Lesley University. She is a member of the Seacoast Storytellers and LANES (League for the Advancement of New England Storytelling). As a member of the Seacoast Storytellers, she has performed in Tellabration! and Tellabration, Jr!, and in 2005 produced a tsunami relief concert, âWaves of Compassionâ, in Portsmouth, NH. She is also the host of a monthly storytelling series at the StoryHome Storytelling Center in Rochester, which has featured tellers from New England, Pennsylvania and Texas.
