Details:
The Mentionables are pleased (as punch) to bring you Talk Of The House, an all new collection of original Mentionable gems. Enjoy this power pop CD and please, tell your friends. Tell your family and co-workers. And tell all the people you seem to see all the time for some reason. Not really friends...but you do see them a lot. Perhaps The Mentionables will bring you together and you'll become friends? Probably.
Need some background on these guys? Well...
...The Mentionables are a Power Pop, Garage Rock-type, 60âs influenced, harmony-based band best described as âModern Britpop from Jersey.â (band member Doug note: "this is the best description that I could come up with at least").
From their collective love of tomatoes and corn to their shared frustration with the parkway and traffic, the Mentionables, despite their numerous complaints, remain a true Jersey band (kind of), representing areas from Montclair and Phillipsburg to East Brunswick and Brick.
BRIEF HISTORY
Scott and Doug Sobon are brothers so they had no choice but to be in a band together so as not to upset their mother.
Bass player Bill Antini joined their band after sharing a bill (and his nameâs Billâ¦sorry) at a club in New Brunswick. Said Bill at the time âI liked what they (Scott and Doug) were doing.â (Itâs not all that interesting of a quote but a quote nonetheless).
Arno Ritchie answered an ad the band placed for an additional guitarist in a local music paper. The new line-up soon began playing local New Jersey clubs, recording the occasional demo and basically doing their best to play as much as possible. Arno then left the band after 4 months and returned 15 years later (long story).
Never ones to be influenced by current musical trends, the Mentionables have stayed true to their influences and have continued in one way or another to bring their unique style of modern Jersey Britpop to your local music scene and beyond (yikes).
In 2003, the Mentionables, back to their original line-up of Doug, Scott, Arno and Bill, independently released their well-received, full-length debut CD of all original material entitled âBig Bug.â (Big Bug is also for sale here at CD Baby!!!).
Then they played and played and wrote and wrote and now are back with an all new collection called Talk Of The House offered right here at CD Baby! Hurray!
And they rocked hard happily ever after.
