Tetzepi

In 1997 the Tezepi bigtet was founded, in cooperation with Hans Leeuw. Tetzepi is a fifteen piece strong band that has earned its own place in the jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music scene.
Tetzepi means a time before time perceived: a time before dogma and tested methodology.

The band members are their own composers. Talented, avant-garde composers â foreign and domestic alike â also write for the band, and in doing so demonstrate their vision of groundbreaking music. Tezepi has released three CDâs on the Amsterdam-based Try Tone label to date.

The music Managed, collective improvisations transformed into stimulating individual soloâs played on stimulating grooves and vice versa. Tezepiâs music reflects the frantic pace of the city. This Amsterdam band sounds like a big band at some times and a free jazz-ensemble run amok at others, but it always maintains a confident individuality in its play. A surprise for the ear and a feast for the eye.
