Details:
This CD is Portland, Maine-based original folk-rock band TRUTH ABOUT DAISIES debut CD.

Songwriting duo Sheila McKinley and Doug Swift worked with their 5-member band and local studio Acadia Recording Company to create a 14-song CD that covers a broad range of the bandâs hallmark songs.

"We are so excited to finally have a way to send our music home with people," says Sheila McKinley, the Daisies' lead singer/songwriter. "We've been playing out a lot over the past year and have had many requests from listeners for a CD."

The band refers to their music as "Urban Folk Groove-Pop." This designation hints at the variety found in their songsâfrom plaintive ballads to rockin' electric tunes, veering from a touch of alternative country with banjo or mandolin to reggae rhythms or even a bluesy number. Most songs feature the band's trademark lush three to five part harmonies.

Doug Swift and Sheila McKinley combine to play guitars, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica. The versatile rhythm section â equally at home in a slow country waltz or a driving, Latin groove â consists of percussionist Elizabeth Burd, bassist Ronda Dale, and drummer Dan Sonenberg.

Burd and Ronda have been with the band since the days when it was a more acoustic-based foursome. USM composer and Professor Dan Sonenberg rounds out the quintet on drums and backing vocals.

For unique and energetic original music, Truth About Daisies is a great pick. And what is the truth about daisies? As one fan said, itâs better to be picking them than pushing them.
