Details:
In Sankrit, Bhedam means change. In the Netherlands, Bhedam is an international ensemble consisting of musicians who are each, in their genre, a prominent representative of the younger generation. Each has a broad background in contemporary music, jazz and ethnic music. Playing together in various combinations, they discovered their mutual interests in these different music styles, particularly an affinity for non-western music. The repertoire of Bhedam consists of compositions by it's own members, searching for a new sound and new ways between composition and improvisation. The collaboration in Bhedam is producing a new music form, both forceful and emotional - colorful and powerful music that can groove, but also can sound like chamber and orchestral music. Improvisation plays a central role, and through the variety of musical backgrounds from the musicians come no fixed rules of play.
