Description:

(ID 236253)
Deepfried is a four person symphony, producing a range of genres from triphop to ambient using homemade software, live sampling, looping, and drum-mixing.

12 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Ambient, ELECTRONIC: Trip Hop

Details:
From sampling children in the audience to hijacking unsuspecting wall sockets, Deepfried is not your average band.

Deepfried was synthesized in 2000 in the mysterious depths of Peter Elsea's electronic music studios at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Deepfried's birth was marked by the creation of the cuisNart, a custom-built live audio production suite.

A Deepfried performance is an assemblage of live instrumentation, pouring sounds into an Apple G5 running the cuisNart. The incoming sounds are then looped, mixed, sampled and synchronized into a blend of organic, rhythmic, fluid, and otherworldly soundscapes. A four-person symphony.

Peter : cuisNart
Lindsey : vocals
Rob : bass
Bob : guitar

A shared breath in a shared time. This is the sound that is Deepfried.

Our new album, 'incense', is a collection of live recordings over the last year. Because these songs are expressions of energy and not formulated narratives, we decided to name them using our most intuitive, non-logical, sense: smell.

We bought one of each flavor of incense in downtown Santa Cruz. We listened to the completed album and associated aromas with songs. The names of these songs are the names of the scents which match these songs.

Note: when you try this, don't light the incense. Smell it unlit.
