Details:
What: ⦠is the God Is For Every Day® project?
â Recently created, original material for children in the form of stories and songs.
â Available on Cassette Tape, Compact Disc (CD) and in a 52 page Teach-A-Child Companion Book.
â Accompaniment is also available on the CD and tape, as well as a midi disk for electronic pianos.
â Eight themes are presented and each theme includes both a story and song, as well as introductions.
Who: â¦has been involved in the project?
â The stories were written by Valerie Spickler, a 2nd grade teacher of 30 years experience.
â The musical arrangements and some of the lyrics were written by Lois Monson, an elementary/adult educator and talented musician.
â The lyrics and melodies were written by Carol Loperena, child-at-heart and budget analyst.
â The introductions were performed by Dr. Rudy, an integrative family medicine physician.
â The stories and songs were performed by Angelika, called Keeka for short. She has had college level voice training and her voice has a sweet, pure sound.
Why: â¦was this project undertaken?
â It started out during a period of time in Carolâs life where she was asking God for direction. She specifically laid it out on the table that she was open to anything.
â She spent some extended time with her cousinâs young girls. It was then that she began longing for certain things in childrenâs music that she couldn't always find.
â She began looking for childrenâs music thatâ¦
..was sung clearly enough so that she could hear and understand all of the words.
..had simple melodies that wouldn't be overpowered by a lot of competing background accompaniment.
..came with both the words, sheet music and a recording so that she could better learn the songs.
..reached a deeply spiritual place in the childâs heart and showed them what it is actually like to experience God in their daily lives.
â Not long afterward she started jotting down some thoughts and things just went from there. Her husband, Dr. Rudy, said she should keep going with it.
Which: â¦age group are the stories and songs written for?
â For infants/toddlers - many people have used the recordings or book/recording sets as baby gifts.
The 2nd side of the tape/CD has music accompaniment alternated with voice-only, which is very soothing.
â Pre-school age â home daycare centers or preschools can play a story/song set for music time,
Bible time, or before rest time.
Pre-school children can learn many of the songs. For those more lengthy songs, the pre-school children can sing the refrain in response to the older children singing the verses.
â Kindergarten-first/second â some of the music might be used in the classroom, in a cherub choir,
Sunday or church school. Because the songs are so easy to learn, adults may first assume that they are for very young children only, but together with the wonderful and sometimes humorous stories they can reach many children within the kindergarten-second grade group.
The above would be the more common uses, but there are other possibilities as wellâ¦
â The material can be used to aid in teaching reading, language or voice.
â The written music can be played by older students learning an instrument.
â Babysitters or older brothers and sisters can use it in their babysitting bag.
â Parents can use one or more of the themes to deal with certain issues.
--For instance, if their child seems to be feeling very lonely and lost, they might play the "Jesus Is
My Friend" theme and talk about it together.
--If their child doesn't feel like feeding the family pet or has lost a pet, it might help to play or
read the "God Loves the Animals theme.â Grandparents and Great grandparents often like to give the set to their grandchildren in order to pass along their faith.
â A play or presentation can be created with the stories and songs, with easier and more difficult parts being assigned according to age and ability.
