Details:
Rob Houle, Before Dawnâs front man, a talented musician and prolific song writer was urged by a close friend and fellow guitar player, Perry Bamonte of The Cure to make meaningful music. Before Dawn was originally an attempt to be âthat band.â Perry was and still is to this day one of Houleâs closest friends, biggest inspirations and harshest critics. Perry, endearingly refers to Rob as a âflash bastardâ guitar player.

Rob Houle and Kate Arpke had met in the fall of 1998 while in college at The University of Central Florida. They were both theater majors. They worked together and collaborated on projects from the beginning. Rob and Kate got married December 1st 2002.

The band Before Dawn was conceived in March of 2004, originally as a 3 piece, temporarily as a 4 piece and in 2006 became the two piece that they were obviously meant to be. Kate wrote the lyrics while learning to play the bass and Rob wrote the music and worked really hard to follow Perryâs advice by pulling back in his âflash bastardâ, sick lick guitar playing for almost 3 years. Eventually Rob found his true guitar soul once again, and came back from his âsick lickâ abstinence stronger than ever.

Some hybrid of electro-pop and indie rock is what began to naturally flow out of Before Dawn. Daryl Bamonte (former road manager for Depeche Mode and The Cure, current manager of Beverly), calls their sound, âDisco/Alt. Rock.â Fans of the band call it âdisco/punk.â

Rob and Kate now reside in Austin, Texas where they play around town. They have done a few mini tours visiting New York, Boston, Los Angeles and several cities in Florida. They are currently working on a music video for the song, âDrowningâ (soon to be featured in the UK publication, Future Music).

Rob and Kate love music that encourages the body to move, they always have a great time when the go see bands with danceable beats and screaming guitar licks. They felt the urge to provide that kind of entertainment for their audiences. Before Dawn shows are about fun, musical expression (âflash bastardâ licks included), crowd interaction, drama, theatrics, dancing, singing, sweating and the liberation of inhibitions.
