I would like to introduce you to the next generation of jazz guitarists.
Charles E. Jones, CJ to his Friends, brings freshness to smooth contemporary jazz thatâs not often seen. His debut albumâ Kicked Backâ opens with âMiss You Carlosâ a song that is more jazz than smooth and brings you into the album and puts you in the proper mood to enjoy the rest of the tunes. It has a quick Latin flavor that showcases the mastery of the acoustic guitar. His fingers move along the strings, bringing out a sound thatâs weaves a musical tapestry of images. These images range from the sultry Latin American nights of aforementioned âMiss You Carlosâ and âLydiaâs Sambaâ to the more Urban /R&B scenes of âThe Nu Gruveâ and âChili Câ. There are a whole lot of surprises in this album until you remember that this is Mr. Jonesâ debut album. This is the quality of that you would expect from an established name in the jazz business. With a debut like this I expect that thereâll be plenty of encores in his future. I for one look forward to hearing much more from Charles E. Jones.
