Mostly Country Gospel, with an occasional surprise. Sometimes airey, sometimes strong. A little Patsy Cline; a touch of Emmylou; but distinctly "Tully."

One of the elements from my childhood that helped shape my love of gospel music was the weekly television program, "The Gospel Singing Jubilee." Every Sunday morning, without fail, such gospel greats as The Happy Goodmans and The Blackwoods were invited into our home through the TV screen to fill our house with music as my family dressed for church.
Lots of Sunday afternoons were spent "playing church" in the living room with my good friend, Brenda, who came home from church with me as often as possible. While I hadn't quite mastered the art of playing the piano yet, that didn't stop me from "beating out" my best (or worst) rendition of all the gospel songs we'd just sung that morning.
Eventually my piano skills improved, and I became the pianist for my uncle's church at the age of 15. Here's my tribute to that monumental point in my life...
"Eternal thanks is due my Uncle Pete (Dad's brother) who pastored for many years and is now in his 80's. When I was 15, he approached my parents with a unique proposition.
Would they consider changing churches to attend his, so I could play the piano for services there, since he'd recently lost his church pianist?
That would require a major sacrifice by my parents, not only because it would require uprooting from our home church, but also because I was still too young to drive and would need a chauffer three times a week to a church that was over half-an-hour away. Oh, did I mention there was one more "minor" issue to consider: I had never played the piano for anyone to sing before!
I had learned the basics of playing the piano, thanks to my mom, during the numerous piano lessons at Mrs. Murray's house (on the other side of town) where Mom or Dad had driven me once-a-week for a few years. But merely knowing how to play the piano is certainly not the same as playing for a congregation to sing or, scarier still, for an individual's special song!
So, that night at our house, when Uncle Pete heard my parents express concern at both my youth and my inexperience, he had a remedy.
He took my two teenage hands into his two mature ones and looked up towards Heaven, "from whence cometh our help." He lovingly petitioned our Father God to anoint my hands and bless the music that would be produced through them.
Well, thank God, He graciously answered, and the rest is history.
So, after many years of playing and singing, I'd gratefully like to say "Thank You" to my Uncle Pete, Mom and Dad (both in Heaven now) and to God for believing in me and entrusting me with such a precious gift!"
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE FRUIT OF THEIR LABOR IN THIS CD!
Much thanks to my friends, Judy and Reba, for adding their sweet voices to mine in making this album. You too, Louis!!
(FYI) The song entitled "Everywhere We Go" was actually two separate choruses given to me by inspiration twenty years apart! Then... exactly one week before recording this album, I was led to put the two of them together, and... voila! A new song was born!
Thanks for listening,
Cyndy
P.S. My 2 favorites on this album are: "Mercy Rewrote My Life" and "Favorite Song of All."
